New Orleans has a rich and unique cultural heritage and while the atmosphere is consistently changing and people are coming and going; our goal is to honor New Orleans through the co-creation of this event. We are looking for teachers that represent the demographic make up of New Orleans and are therefore giving priority to applicants who identify as New Orleans' Native, Black and or self identified people of color and Indigenous/First Nations people. Each selected individual will receive a $45 honorarium as a thank you for sharing their specialized skills with the community and making this event possible. There will also be a POC Preconference April 4th, 10am to 4pm! SO we have lots of room for people to share their herbal and healing knowledge.
Most workshops will begin at 10:00am on a April 5th, 2020. All teachers will be expected to arrive prepared no later than 9:00am. Each work shop will be 1 hour and 15 minutes. Please plan to be teaching for the entirety of this time. We welcome a variety of subject topics ranging from practical skills, youth activities, herbalism, farming, seed saving, story telling, decolonizing the healing arts, plant walks, to theory. We love creative ideas! All workshops will need to be no-tech and we have no additional budget for materials. We are also looking for Children's workshops as well as Bi-lingual workshops.
